 ZONDA

ZONDA® is different

  1. For fifteen years, Argendonax S.A. has been one of the most important producers of Arundo Donax. In order to supply the numerous factories that employ our material, we have five plantations, the biggest one with a total area of 30 hectares. By using cane from our plantations only, we have been able to obtain uniformity in our reeds.
  2. Our cane are grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers.
  3. As our production is totally handmade, we have several advantages over mass production factories. " Zonda Reeds" are hand-selected and each reed is cut with the tip facing the growth direction of the plant.
  4. Thanks to the collaboration of Verne Q. Powell Flutes, our worldwide Zonda supplier, all templates were manufactured on CNC machines, resulting in more consistent reeds.
  5. In order to respect the accuracy of the templates, electronic three-dimensional precision instruments were designed for the measurement of our equipment.
  6. Before launched to the market, each lot should be approved of by our Advisory Board, formed by Richard Lesser (Israel philharmonic), Richard Mc Dowell (Austin Texas University's professor). We also consult prestigious clarinetists.
  7. Following the tradition used in fine wine making, each Zonda box has a lot number with the harvest year, the plantation it comes from and the manufacturing and packaging date.
  8. It was also necessary to create a new system to measure strengths because the existing ones were not exact enough. "Zonda" is available in 20 different sub-strengths. This assures the musician that all correspond to their strength. In this way many more reeds can be used.
  9. "Zonda" does not hide anything. In contrast to other brands that hide the arc imperfections where the shape begins, we try to reach perfection by choosing canes that have a perfect curvature. In addition, the package is developed in a way that it is not necessary to open it to see the reeds.
